How to measure for a cup-holder adapter—or for Steadi

Vehicle openings, drink bases and the holder’s outside footprint are three different measurements. Do not substitute one for another.

Measure the actual vehicle opening

For an adapter, record the smallest usable inside width, depth and shape of the factory holder. Note removable inserts or spring fingers. Do not force a measuring tool or remove trim without the vehicle’s instructions. There is no universal console-holder diameter.

Check the space above the opening

A tapered bottle can fit at the bottom and hit something higher up. Check the widest relevant body area, handle path, lid opening and room to lift the drink. Confirm that an adapter would not obstruct controls, a shifter or a moving armrest.

Measure the drink base for Steadi

Steadi’s confirmed range is 2–3.15 inches across the container base, including both endpoints. Measure at the part that actually enters the fins. Inspect low handles, uneven bases and added boots separately; capacity labels alone do not tell you the base size.

Measure the resting surface separately

Steadi’s outside footprint is 5.2 inches. That is the area needing full support on a level stationary surface during a parked break. A 3-inch drink that fits the fins still needs that larger resting area. The range is not a promise that Steadi fits inside a car’s holder.

Keep a simple fit record

Write down vehicle opening width/depth, drink-base diameter and available resting width/depth as separate fields. Add the exact vehicle and drink model names. If any interface or clearance is uncertain, ask the accessory maker about that specific configuration before buying.
